Theories, Philosophy & Inspiration

Psychodynamic Discussions

These discussions, which do not have to be had, can help us understand the theories of Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamic therapy. With a casual conversation you can expect to explore your mind to uncover patterns, in thoughts and behaviors, that might be contributing to your distress and stagnation. It is also beneficial to understand how our childhood and past experiences can; contribute to complacency, negative routine behaviors, reoccurring habits, and evoke reactions and emotions, all of which prevent Growth.

With a completely Non-Clinical approach, conversations will develop and encourage exploration of any potential conscious or subconscious experiences preventing Growth. (if the need is evident that therapy would benefit the client. Robert will help bridge the decision to take the next steps).  *But understanding the Theory, will help each individual decide if they themselves want to explore further; at an open exploratory pace, or further into the sub conscious, with a Certified Clinical Therapist. (At which point one can be recommended.)

Existential Theories and Guidance

Understanding the philosophy of Existentialism, and the inspired theory used in therapy is encouraged, to simply guide individuals to take responsibility for their own choices. It will also encourage them to make choices that align with their true values and to live more authentically. Confronting crossroads, and the anxiety felt when making decisions, is common. How each individual responds, is unique to them.

Stagnation is another common challenge. Some Individuals, usually around the age of 40 begin to assess life. Often, they feel frozen and can neither move left, right, forward, or even back.  They find themselves questioning all decisions to be wrong or difficult to make.  When the truth is, any decision/direction is better than no decision/direction.

Each effort made (or small step) builds courage and confidence. These steps reveal that from behind each door that you were previously afraid to open, was a stronger more capable version of you.  As difficult a door is to open sometimes, rest assured, it is very possible to close behind you, (if what's behind it doesn't suit you). Without movement, the infamous term and sensation of ANGST arrives... and often remains.  Conversations will develop, and together we will Bridge over the difficulty, revealing the advantages of facing life as it presents itself.

The most obvious way to understand Existentialism is to Live in The Moment.  And by living authentically, we experience a life without worry that one decision is better than another.  The experience of making that decision, and living in that moment, will define its outcome.  Always moving forward and always Growing Wiser.

Cognitive Behavioral Trust (CBT)

Identify / Understand / Act - Is an honest and challenging exercise that helps us to Understand and attempt to Overcome our limitations. Once we become aware of the walls created by our inaccurate or negative thinking, we can identify unproductive negative thoughts, and observe how they have negatively affected us, then view any challenging situation more clearly.

Together we can develop strategies and work on taking incremental steps, and discuss and replace them with new positive and productive thoughts, and set goals to respond to them in a more effective way. Studies have shown that self-Directed CBT can be highly effective. We will work together to build a foundation that you can later use at other crossroads.

Together, we will develop strategies to overcome stagnation and limitations, difficult obstacles and challenging situations, fears, and disbelief.
